Old Fort Delhi is believed to be in the same spot where the city of Indraprastha
once stood. As the great Indian epic Mahabharata, Indraprastha was the capital
of the Pandavas. Now it is mostly in ruins, Old Fort Delhi was once the seat
number of the emperors glorious administration. Emperor Sher Shah Suri was built
in Fort Humayun, having landed in the city, Dinpanah. Also known as the Purana
Quila, Old Fort is more or less rectangular, in which the course is nearly two
kilometers. According to legend, Sher Shah was able to complete the construction
of Purana Quila in life.
It was then closed, or at least refurbished by Humayun. Infact, the south gate
of the fort known as Humayun Darwaza. This port and Talaqui Darwaza (gateway
prohibited) on the combines Islamic North Chhatris warhead with Hindu and
accessories. Old Fort, 2-mile fortress, with three doors, which has strongholds
on both sides. Go around the fort is a large gap, connected to the river Yamuna
that once used to float on the east side of the fort. The excavations were made
in the area of Old Fort, which followed with pieces of painted pottery BC 1000
Gray, who was said to be associated with the Mahabharata.
Other attractions include Old Fort in Delhi mosque built by Sher Shah in 1541, a
lake with navigation facilities and the nearby zoo. Then there is Sher-Mandal, a
double-story, red sandstone and marble octagonal tower. There is an octagonal
tower crowned chhatri tiles, glass and decorated with carved and painted plaster
inside. Last but not least, is the spectacular light and sound of the Purana
Quila, which has 5,000 years of history of the city of Delhi. The nine pools
come to life in the light and take you on a tour of Delhi's royal past.
